Cast Iron? Thermoplastic? Stainless Steel?
There are advantages and disadvantages to each of these choices. As far as the actual function of the pump, they will usually all work great. Here is a bit of a breakdown on the good and bad:
Usually the least expensive, is not effected by most things found in the ground water that could damage it, strong enough for most applications
|Stronger than thermoplastic for installations where that is important. Heavier so is less likely to "walk" or move around in the pit. Can be effected by aggressive water.|
|Impervious to almost anything found in ground water, but is usually the most expensive choice.|
